Mossley Community Centre, Roughtown Road is run by the Mossley Community Association. The Mossley Community Association was set up to provide educational, welfare, recreational and leisure time activities for the residents of Mossley and is a registered charity. The Community Centre building was originally used as St John’s school and after a period of disuse, it was re-opened by Tameside MBC as a youth club, and also provided a space for other user groups in the community.
The Association took over the running of the building, and first became a registered charity in 2005. It is run independently from Tameside MBC, though they still own the building, and the Association works in partnership with them to ensure the continuing provision of this important community facility.
